Korona Drum Separator (HAMOS KWS)
The Korona Drum Separators from our partner HAMOS enable the extraction of high-purity fractions from solid mixtures with small particle sizes, by separating conductive from non-conductive particles.
In the KWS, the input material is fed onto a rotating, grounded metal drum, and electrostatically charged in proximity of a Korona high-voltage field of up to 35,000 volts. Conductive materials (metals) discharge their load very quickly to the grounded drum, and are thrown off by the rotating motion. Non-conductors very slowly lose their charge, sticking to the surface of the metal drum, and are brushed away.
Input materials should be well reduced for optimal separation using a KWS. UMS customers achieve the best results when using conductor/non-conductor mixtures with sizes of up to 12 mm, which are dry (humidity < 0.2%) and dust-free (at least 100 μm). The KWS can be continuously operated with minimum operating effort, and thus enables high added value. The unit also benefits from low energy consumption, minimal wear and ease of maintenance.
